How safe is your nail appointment????

Since going back into a salon environment, and being engaged more with the public, I have been shocked and appalled by some of the nails I have seen.
Not to mention the acceptance clients have on paying for something they're clearly unhappy with.
I regularly hear, "I'm not that happy with them, but they were only $25!"
Well I would never PAY someone $25 to make me unhappy - would you???
These type of cheap salons are popping up everywhere and its getting to be a real problem!
Clients are confused, perplexed and becoming increasingly untrusting when its comes to our industry. Some clients come in quite defensive before they even sit in the chair as they've had so many bad experiences.

Its my job as an advanced trained nail technician with 30 years industry experience to warn consumers of the dangers of frequenting NSS (non standard salons). These salons choose to decrease quality and time to increase their bottom line at your expense.

Unlike accredited professional salons - who take the time and invest their money to provide you with high quality accredited products.
Many of these salons are stocking low quality substandard foreign products known to contain MMA (methyl methacrylate) and hemma, which when used incorrectly or exposed to can result in:

  • Irritation
  • Redness and Swelling
  • Skin Sensitisation (numbness and tingling)
  • Respiratory problems or eye, nose and throat irritation.
  • Fungal or bacterial infections
  • Discolouration of nails (yellowing)
  • Nail damage or deformaties

Low pricing, rushed appointments, secrecy about brands and unlabelled pots, extreme filing of the natural nail and difficulty removing the nail enhancement, discolouration of product are all tell-tale signs of substandard work and what to avoid.

I personally am allergic to these products (as are many clients) and will experience severe itching after removing nails from an NSS. At one instance the reaction was so acute my throat began to close over and I experienced trouble breathing.
So please think twice when choosing a nail salon - is it worth it just to save a few dollars or not have to book ahead an appointment.
We are trained, experienced and passionate about what we do, please trust us as we are here for you.

I look forward to sharing my experience with you and hope you enjoy your appointment in a friendly hygienic atmosphere where friendships are guaranteed.
